Foundation Notes

The Fort Worth Alumnae Chapter collects Campbell Soup labels and donates them to the Delta Gamma Schools for the Blind. The schools use the labels to purchase Braille books and other educational toys for the children. The Fort Worth alumnae also collect hotel toiletries to donate to the group home for the visually impaired. In addition we also collect used eyeglasses that are distributed to Alexander Vision Clinic. Our "Stay-at-Home" fundraiser was very successful this year and raised nearly $3,000 to donate to the Alexander Vision Clinic. The money raised will go to the Alexander Vision Clinic at Cook Children's Medical Center. To donate labels, toiletries, eyeglasses or to help volunteer please e-mail our Webmaster. This year we are collecting books and music on cassettes and or CDs for the visually impaired.

Here are some ways that Fort Worth DGs contribute to our fraternity's philanthropy:

  • Collection of labels through the Labels for Education Program to provide equipment to the DG Schools for children who are visually impaired

  • Collection of used eye glasses to help visually impaired children/adults

  • Collect toiletries for a group home for the visually impaired

  • Collect taped books and music for visually impaired

  • Deliver snacks throughout the year to Tandy Village

  • Delivered Easter baskets to the Tandy Village

  • Volunteering when needed at eye screenings

  • Make eye occluders for several eye agencies

  • Support of Alexander Vision Clinic at Cook Children's Medical Center

  • Support of Delta Gamma Foundation

  • "Stay at Home" fundraiser in March/proceeds donated to Alexander Vision Clinic and DG Foundation

Other ways that the Fort Worth Alumnae Chapter helps with the mission of our Foundation:

  • Provide the Highest GPA Award for a Gamma Tau Senior

  • Provide emergency financial aid for fraternity dues to Gamma Tau collegians who experience a sudden financial difficulty

  • Provide eight dues scholarships to Gamma Tau collegians

  • Assist TCU's Gamma Tau chapter in their annual Anchor Splash fundraiser

  • Assist TCU's Gamma Tau chapter with many philanthropic and eye related projects to further participation in our Foundation

  • Presented TCU with over $120,000 to start the Dorothy Garrett Martin Lectureship on the TCU campus. Fundraising is on-going.

  • Have members that sit on the "Fort Worth Lighthouse" and "Prevent Blindness" Boards

  • Distribute DG eye tip brochures
